Leave the Cruel Judgements for a Different Time and Place

(Verse 1) The headline’s bright, a comment left in fire, You’re shouting from your screen, a voice of bitter ire. You say you know the answers, you say the truth is yours, And you slam the digital windows and you lock the human doors. I hear your righteous anger, your words like falling stones, And I see you make an enemy from a person you don’t know. You’re right and I am wrong, you say with a vicious plea, And you just stand there judging, from a place where you can’t see.

(Chorus) So sit down, listen closely, put your anger on the ground, Before the hate you’re feeding is the only thing around. You can wear your red, you can wear your blue, But a heart is just a heart, a promise to be true. So let’s just find a way, to let each other be, And leave our cruel judgments for a different time and place.

(Verse 2) You look at all my values, and you say they’re all a sin, You judge me for my quietness, and the color of my skin. You say the world should be like this, and not like that at all, And all I feel is sorrow, and a heart that’s bound to fall. My beliefs are just my own, a light I hold so dear, And your hateful words are just a testament to your own fear. I don’t need your approval, I don’t need your angry voice, All I need is understanding, a simple, human choice.

(Bridge) The world won’t stop for us now, to end the bitter fight, But we can find a little way, to make a little light.
